Bath & Windsor

We've gotten the chance to visit some BEAUTIFUL cities in the English countryside. Yesterday we went down to Bath and spent the afternoon. Bath is home to the Old Roman Baths and a Beautiful Abbey (church). The city is built on the mouth of an extinct volcano which is the reason for the Hot Springs beneath the city and the reason for the original Roman Baths location. Today on our way home we stopped at Donnigton Castle which there isn't too much left of. Just the two towers of the old gate house. Then we went on to Windsor. Windsor is absolutely gorgeous and home to Windsor Castle where The Queen spends most of her weekends and holidays. The castle is a gigantic sprawling building that is more like a small fortified city than a weekend home. We got to tour the castle and see the royal living quarters and the Queen's Dollhouse. It was very cool to realize that this wasn't just another castle ruin but a fully functioning part of the British Monarchy! I'll post some additional pictures on Flickr so if you'd like to see more pictures click on the slideshow at the top right.
