Former Alabama State University basketball star Kelvin Davis is pursuing his life long goal of becoming a professional basketball player even after 20 years of marriage and five children. The Atlanta Vision, Atlanta ’s new professional basketball team, announced that the 47-year-old Davis earned a spot on their Vet Camp roster. Should Davis make the team, he will be the oldest rookie in the history of professional basketball. “Kelvin Davis satisfied the Atlanta Vision and exceeded the expectations of all those that stood in amazement of this awesome feat,” Vision owner Quentin Townsend said. “LeBron James and Kelvin Davis should do a Nike commercial together because Kelvin has something that cannot be purchased and few have, heart, fueled with the mentality to win.”
“You’re never too old to pursue your dreams,” Kelvin Davis said.
So I just read this article about Kelvin Davis. This is an AMAZING accomplishment. And even more than just being in good enough physical shape to play professional basketball, this guy should be applauded for his willingness to shrug off "Society's Age Limit". I think if most of us were honest we would tell this guy that he is too old to play professional basketball. But Kelvin loves the game and has always dreamed of playing professional basketball. How many of us give up on our dreams because we're "too old" or "it's not practical"? What's our excuse? What are we missing out on because of it?
